We are currently continuing to honour bookings for those who are able to travel to us. The precautions we take to enable us to continue to provide this space are as follows:
- VACCINATION: We are currently accepting bookings from Guests who have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, or have a medical exemption. We know this is a controversial decision but as a community-minded small business who care greatly for the wellbeing of our small team, this is the decision we’ve made. We will ask for proof of your vaccination status at check-in.
- CHECK-IN: Depending on the current conditions on Gadigal Country (Sydney), we may offer you an in-person, phone, or video check-in. We reserve the right to suspect in-person tours where community transmission rates call for it, and will take you through the check-in process by phone or video call instead, and doesn’t impact the conveyance of knowledge about the space and how to use it. In-person check-ins are masked and socially distanced.
- VENTILATION: We may space out our bookings so that there is time to air and clean the space thoroughly between each stay, but this isn’t always possible. You are welcome to request a gap between your arrival and the departure of anyone else in the House that day, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
- CLEANING: In addition to our strict cleaning protocols that have always been a hallmark of how we run the place, we ensure that all high-touch surfaces including doorknobs, keys and key safe, handrails, light switches, taps, and handles are sanitised between Guests. We maintain a standard of 2-in-1 cleaning protocols in compliance with federal health and WorkSafe guidelines.
- RESCHEDULING: We provide a fully-flexible rescheduling policy that allows Guests to err on the side of caution and stay home if they are feeling unwell or have been required to self-isolate.
What we’re asking of our Guests:
- Most importantly: please do not attend a booking if you or any other Guests on your booking are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms, or are a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case. Our cancellation policy in this instance is flexible to encourage Guests to let us know if this is the case, and will allow you to reschedule your booking to another time with no penalty. Please see the ‘COVID-19 provision’ section of our cancellation policy for more detail.
- Your Guest information form filled out at the time of booking will require that you provide information about your vaccination status as of the date of your appointment. Please be prepared to show proof of what you claim – we don’t need to collect it, we just need to sight it.
- Leave all towels and linen for us to clean up; do not strip the bed yourself or start the cleaning process for us. We have protocol for this and prefer to do it ourselves!
- Leave all gear, toys and tools you’ve used for us to clean.
- Follow any instructions given to you in confirmation or check-in documents or briefs, as our protocols may change as we receive new information.
The nature of Hedon House has always required a strong cleaning and disinecting game. Infection control protocol is daily business at The House, and we were well-equipped to step up our game from a BBV/STI transmission prevention protocol to add some extra steps for COVID-19. We buy and use hospital-grade disinfectant products in bulk and have plenty of hand sanitiser, hand wash and fresh towels to enable you to keep your hygiene game strong during your stay.
A few things to keep in mind:
There are soft surfaces in the space, including upholstered furniture, rugs, leather, and carpet, which can’t be thoroughly disinfected. They are cleaned to the best of our ability.
We will only do a thorough COVID clean (aka a ‘terminal clean’ in the health sector) when we are informed that a Guest has become ill during or after their booking, or has tested positive for COVID-19. This has yet to happen for us. We do, however, always do a rigorous clean between Guests, and welcome feedback where you feel the standard of the clean is compromised.
Hedon House is always used at your own risk. We accept no liability for Guests’ health at any time, as outlined in our Terms of Hire.
